Do you find yourself having long periods of anger?
Believe it or not, anger is a healthy emotion. Everyone will experience it every now and then, however, when it starts to become destructive, it can lead to further problems.
Repressed anger refers to anger that is unconsciously avoided, denied, or pushed down. Many times, repressed anger contributes to mental health symptoms related to anxiety and depression.
According to psychologist, Jerry Deffenbacher, some people really are more “hotheaded” than others are; they get angry more easily and more intensely than the average person does. There are also those who don’t show their anger in loud spectacular ways but are chronically irritable and grumpy. Easily angered people don’t always curse and throw things; sometimes they withdraw socially, sulk, or get physically ill.
As mentioned before, anger can come in many different forms, which one is you?
At Star Point Counseling center, we will help you express your anger in a healthier way, rather than repress it.
